Haiti Foundation Against Poverty
has opened a food foundation which distributes
food to the most needy in the community:
typically the: elderly and women with many
children. Women in Haiti have on average
6.5 children in their lifetime and are only
able to feed one past the age of 5. The
rest are left to die or put in orphanages.
This is just one example why the food distribution
program is so needed. Each family is given
a bag of rice, a bag of meal, and a bottle
of oil. This will feed the family for 2
weeks.
The food foundation is currently
distributing food in Lilavios and Cite Soleil,
as well as other cities when natural disasters
occur. Ways You can Help: Provide a monetary
donation to be sent down to feed the hungry

Dirt Cookies
For years, children in Haiti have been eating dirt cookies to try and calm their hunger pains. These cookies are made of dirt, lard, and salt. They are baked in the sun and closely resemble pottery. The majority of dirt cookies are eaten by children and pregnant women. The dirt sticks in their stomachs for a long period of time freeing them from debilitating hunger pains. These cookies can be found in most market places and along many roads throughout Port-au-Prince, however they are most prevalent in the Cite Soleil community where our school, clinic, and feeding program are located.
