Cite Soleil is the poorest place in the Western Hemisphere. For years the United Nations has labeled it the most dangerous place on earth. HFAP has various projects to help the people who are struggling to survive in this slum. Our first project was building a school for the children, Les Bours School of Hope. There was no other school in the area for them to attend. Their parents did not have access to education, and so they are not able to teach anything to their children. The poverty-stricken conditions in Cite Soleil will never change unless the children are educated to do so. Education is the key for survival and change! These children are the future of Haiti. Our students now go home and read to their parents!
People in Haiti are often not able to afford basic food, so the cost of education is far too high for most families to even dream about. Les Bours School of Hope is a free school offering education, food, clothing, shoes, and healthcare to all of our students. Les Bours School of Hope currently has 163 students enrolled. Each year we hope to add a new classroom and increase our student body by 20 children. Throughout the year, teams traveling with HFAP come to the school to host teacher training seminars, vacation Bible schools, free health clinics, and many other activities. HFAP is in constant need of people willing to sponsor a child to receive education. If you are interested, please visit our Donation page. We also have a great need for supplies and monetary donations to keep the school running. For a list of current needs and more information please click on Donation.
